Dumb bitch.
Carrie Underwood: I "Lose Respect" For Celebrities Who Endorse
Where do I begin with this? Jesus, take the wheel 'cause I want to run over this bitch.
American Idol winner and country music superstar Carrie Underwood has lost all respect for Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, Diddy, George Clooney and other celebrities who have backed candidates for office.
While talking about the presidential race with TV Guide, Carrie revealed, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate."
"It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions," she explains. "I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to. Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it's from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape."
I think what Carrie is trying to say is "I like John McCain and these celebrities don't agree with my choice... so I don't respect them since they made it public." She doesn't want to say who she supports. Oh, I respect her SO MUCH.
When HASEN'T Oprah or George Clooney made their political opinions public? I wouldn't expect anything different from them. And how does Carrie explain any non-celebrity's endorsement?
Also, I do not agree with her opinion that music "should be an escape"? Music can be anything. How many great artists have written great songs about issues they believe in? She obviously believes in Jesus. JESUS!
I would have to say that I also have my favorite, celebrities, that steer me in my own direction of entertainment, and she would not be one of them. As a matter of fact, I am somewhat turned off by her. But not because she chooses not to reveal who she is supporting in the election. She is a voter just like any other American, and if at all smart (I use that word loosely) she will probably be wise to stay away from engaging in any political debate with fellow celebrities or fans. Especially in a day and age when we are all willing to judge one another for our beleifs and actions. And even though she is not some one who's music I would find myself listening to, I can say that I hate it when a movie star stands on their ever so large soap box to demonstrate their views on politics. I go to the movies for entertainment mostly. I have select few movies that I would watch for educational value, and those that I would watch to challenge my morals and ethics. But those are very far and few between. I understand that these are real people as well, but when your main objective is to entertain people, but you use your platform to convey your politcal stance, you have just lost you ability for these people to look at you in the fantasy world of entertainment. And every time they see you in a movie or singing on stage, they will forever remember your views on world issues. We do not need anyone else to demonstrate politcal bias in the media, or help along media influencing public opinion. We need to form our own opinions about the issues in the world, based on our own moral and ethical values for what is true, what is honorable, and what is good. And in todays society, everything we do, and what we beleive in, and the decisions we make; is based on what we see in the news. How we should dress, who are friends should be, how much money we need to make to be happy, what kind of house to have, what neighborhood we live in, how much I should weigh, what kind of car shoul I drive, which country club I belong to, do I discipline my children the way others do,....ya da ya da ya da. You name it we cant' think on our own and we are driven to do what others do because it is easier than coming up with an original though on our own. So, is she wrong for not wanting to influence anyones vote, with her fame and how she might vote? NO, not at all.

Plus, aren't there public figures who you like? Aren't there figures who think the same way that you do? There are people who love Oprah because they think like her. You would probably listen to what she has to say if you think along the same lines.

She's saying she thinks her fans are stupid enough to do whatever she says. All Americans should be allowed to support a candidate publicly.
I love your take on what she reallllly means!
