Just finished reading this book. The last quarter of the story ripped my heart out. Highly highly recommended.
This review of the book states it best:
“If you are prepared to take a hard punch in your gut, and like brave, acute, elated, naked, brutal, tender, humane, and beautiful prose, then you've come to the right place. If you can't handle the violence of the regret it will awaken in you, or the agony of remembering wanting someone more than you wanted anything in your life, or the exquisite suffering that comes with the gain, and loss, of something that neared perfect understanding, then don't read this book. Ditto if you like your literature censored. Otherwise, open the cover and let Aciman pull the pin from the grenade.”

...Potter, that is.
Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to do the last two Harry Potter films. Great! They better get filming. The cast isn't getting any younger.
In a new "development", Emma Watson (our beloved Herminone Granger), will be testing the new blue-screen blouse thought the filming of the last two movies.
Martin Nodell, the creator of one of my favorite superheros, died last Saturday at a nursing home in Wisconsin. His character, Green Lantern (Alan Scott), started in the 1940 and has gone through many revivals. Of course, the version of Green Lantern I grew up with was Hal Jordon, who came on to the scene much later (thank you). Thanks for making childhood so much fun, Martin!
As the final book from the Harry Potter saga is nearing our hands, author JK Rowling is feeling a bit down about it. "I am feeling sad as it is the last one. But so far, so good." she told Reuters at a garden party where 2,000 children were celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 80th birthday.
Good, stupid be-ach!
Okay, this is WAY COOL! I just ordered the complete X-Men comic book series on DVD spading from September 1963 to August 2005.
Don't know if this includes all the X titles and crossovers, but this collection is SWEET!
La Magnifica just told me that DC Comics is bringing back an old character with a new "twist": Batwoman.
Only this time, she's going to be "a Buxom Lipstick Lesbian".
Well that sounds fun!
I'm reading a new book, "The Lexicon of Stupidity", which, somewhat obviously, is a compilation regarding the subject of stupidity.
Yes, I realize I used the word in defining the word. But that's just the point. As the authors Ross and Katherine Petras note, "... the key aspect of stupidity is being stupid or acting stupid or, for that matter, thinking stupid(ly). Indeed the salient feature of the definition is the repetition of the word stupid..."
That said, I am going to periodically post the stupidest of the stupid.
