From a CNN email alert:

An icon from my youth. Very sad. Here's an image of the famous poster:

Very sad. I actually saw him in my building once.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- NBC is renewing "Law & Order" for a record-tying 20th season.I have a Love/ Hate relationship with this show: I love watching it, but I hate watching it when I have other stuff to do.
People familiar with NBC's plans say the network is set to announce its fall schedule Tuesday and the durable crime drama will be on it. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the decision.
"Law & Order" will stand with "Gunsmoke" as TV's longest-running prime-time drama. The Western aired from 1955 to 1975 on CBS.
This should be fun!

NEW YORK (AP) -- Comedy Central will roast Joan Rivers.
The 75-year-old, raspy-voiced comedian will be held up for comedic slaughter in a special taped July 26 in Los Angeles. It will air on the Viacom Inc.-owned network on Aug. 9.

"Sometimes... I spit on the children."
We love Kristen Wiig!
I thanked her for her participation in the protest yesterday. She smiled and said, "No problem."
Thousands show up for NYC Prop 8 protest in front of Mormon Temple
Thousands of human rights advocates massed outside the Mormon Temple on the upper West Side Wednesday night to protest the church's vigorous role in banning California's same-sex marriages.
After some speechifying, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and entertainer Whoopi Goldberg led demonstrators on a flag-waving, drum-beating, slogan-chanting march to Columbus Circle.
The peaceful protest drew young and old, white and nonwhite, straight and gay, most of whom smiled and waved at spectators as they chanted things like, "Gay, straight, black, white, marriage is a civil right," and "separation of church and hate."
Since Election Day, protesters have been targeting Mormon churches all across the nation, angry that they organized support for Proposition 8 and donated huge sums of money to assure its passage. Proposition 8 banned same-sex marriages.
I think this is cool. Follow the link to see the video.
Ann Curry And NBC's Green Screen Secret (VIDEO)
NBC has many fancy election graphics, including the one virtual reality effect in which an anchor appears. On election night Ann Curry is manning the pricey election exit poll floor show. After it appeared Curry was stabbed by some data early in the night, Brian Williams had the directors turn off the graphic and show viewers how Ann Curry is just standing in a green screened room.
Okay, if people REALLY thought that there was some "data" that stabbed Ann Curry, they must live in a red state.
Now, about the green screen: This is a technique I use to create my holiday videos. Of course, I don't have a room like this (I'm trying to convince Ein Oso that it would be a good investment), so I improvise with green sheets in the basement (sounds like a book).
I only wish that they painted Ann green.
I just love science:
Welcome to Discovery Channel's new series Time Warp,
in which MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman uses new technologies
to bring truly never-before-seen wonders into a form that your body can
actually process.
Using the latest in high-speed photography, the Time Warp
team takes some natural events (a cat licking its paw, a champagne
bottle being opened) — and some not-so-natural (a water balloon to the
face, a raw piece of chicken exploding) — and turns them into a thing
of both beauty and learning.
